What is Washington
County Right to Life?
Washington County Right to Life
(WCRTL) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization of people in and
around Washington County who believe every human being, born and
pre-born, old and young, has an inherent right to life. As an affiliate
of the Ohio Right to Life and associate of the National Right to Life,
we are subject to the standards and policies of these groups, which
include condemning illegal activities and violence in any form. We
believe life is beautiful and valuable, and that it should not be cut
short by abortion, infanticide or euthanasia.
What does WCRTL do?
As we believe life is the only true
choice, our primary goal is to teach the public that each act of
abortion, infanticide and euthanasia ends a valuable life. We strive to
present fully-detailed, factual information upon which individuals and
the public may better understand fetal development, abortion,
alternatives to abortion, infanticide and euthanasia. The ways through
which we achieve this goal include educational programs and literature
provided to the public through school systems, civic groups, clubs and
churches. This material is directed to the public, including women
experiencing crisis pregnancies, and includes support systems ad
services available to provide assistance.
We reach out to people through booths
at Washington County Fair and Lowell's Octoberfest. We publish annual
Signature Ads in local newspapers. In 1994, we placed Educational Packs,
composed of six factual pro-life books, in public and school libraries
throughout the County. We also publish a monthly newsletter,
LifeMatters. Members of our organization are available to speak to
churches, civic groups and schools to provide information on life
issues.
WCRTL stays informed in the political
arena as well. Click here for more information
on our Legislative Actions.
Who does WCRTL help?
We are deeply concerned about women in
crisis pregnancy situations. To that end, we support various ministries
to help women, such as crisis pregnancy centers, which provide free
counseling and assistance to expectant mothers; Special Touch
Ministries, a local agency that provides clothing for stillborn
children; and adoption agencies and similar organizations that provide
adoption information and counseling. We also support organizations that
provide counseling services for women experiencing post-abortion trauma,
which manifests itself emotionally (including nightmares, "phantom
pains," sadness when seeing children) and physically (including
bleeding, cramping, sterilization and other health hazards). We also
help protect the handicapped and elderly.
